Weekend at Manizales

It's been few weeks now since I have been trying to cope with certain things and I realised I definitely needed a change to overcome such feelings. So this month I have decided to plan to travel to some beautiful places and the first was Manizales.

It wasn't that different for me with climate but it is built in a mountain region with a number of ridgelines and steep slopes.Steve(USA),Anya(Russia)and I left to large eco-park Los Yarumos. It contains beautiful views overlooking the city and views of mountains and volcanos encircling the city above. There are many hiking trails and nature walks. And then I had my first Canopy experience.Canopy walkways are bridges between and in trees; mostly linked up with platforms inside or around the trees. The guide, surprisingly Anya's friend guided us to do all these arduous activities with ease.

After lunch,Mario,Director of Los Nevados picked me up in his car and we headed to Los Nevados.Los Nevados is a beautiful pueblito(small village)set deep in the Andes. The mountains are just a short drive from Manizales up through forests.Much of the central part of the range is a volcanic desert and there are impressive volcanic cones and lava flows. And then I see another wonder of nature, lunar eclipse-it was beautiful to witness the gradual loss of moonlight.Initially we could see only one-fourth visible part of the moon, then half and the three-fourth and then the full moon surrounded by a huge and bright constellation. It was my first total eclipse of the Moon I ever saw and it was the most amazing jaw-dropping event I ever witnessed.

Lunar eclipses occur when the Sun, Earth and Moon are in a near-perfect line in space. It was more awe-inspiring to watch the shadow of the entire planet slowly move across the Moon from 4500 mts high and -3 C temperature.I felt as if the moon was just a few meters away.

Next day,in the afternoon visited the downtown,Juan Valdez at El Cable and the went to Ecotermales El OtoƱo(Thermal Waters)spent few hours there surrounded by beautiful moutains and cold weather.Relaxing and wonderful hang-out place with your girl.

At the end,it was really a tiresome and refreshing trip. But I think I still need more such trips.Hence,Medellin is on my mind for the next weekend.

PS: Pictures will be uploaded in a week.
